When to reach for it
Managed transcription is the default.
Companion is for the rest.
Most sessions are easiest to upload and forget. Companion exists for the nights when that is not what you want.

- For sensitive table conversations, private player context, or a group that simply prefers it that way. Everlore only ever receives transcript text.
- No audio minutes consumed
- Local transcription does not draw down your monthly managed allowance. That matters most for multitrack recordings, where managed transcription meters every player track separately, and for working through a backlog of old sessions.
- Prepared for your hardware
- Companion picks the right GPU or CPU path for your machine and makes the one-time local setup clear before it starts.
- Built for long sessions
- Progress is saved after each track, so a four-hour night survives a pause, a crash, or a restart.
- Same destination either way
